An evening with Yann Arthus-Bertrand: Nature – For a Reconciliation

On the evening of June 5th, the EU Delegation invited together with the UN to Cinérama Empire for an exclusive CineONU screening of Nature: For a Reconciliation, the latest documentary by world-renowned photographer and environmental advocate Yann Arthus-Bertrand. The event was held in partnership with the United Nations Office at Geneva, as part of CineONU’s ongoing mission to use film as a platform for dialogue on global issues.
The film offered a poetic, yet urgent reflection on humanity's complex relationship with the natural world. Arthus-Bertrand, celebrated for his sweeping aerial imagery and environmental storytelling, guides viewers through a journey across time and ecosystems. Nature exposes the contradictions of modern society and their devastating impacts on the planet’s living systems—but it does not stop at critique.
Instead, the film delivers a heartfelt message of hope: reconciliation is possible—with nature, and with ourselves. Central to this message is the idea that individual action, driven by love and empathy, can create meaningful change. As Arthus-Bertrand himself suggests, “Love is the key.”
Following the screening, the audience had the rare opportunity to engage directly with the filmmaker during a post-screening discussion. The conversation touched on the making of the documentary, the role of storytelling in environmental awareness, and the importance of cultivating personal responsibility in the face of the climate crisis.
The event marked more than just a film screening—it was a call to reflection, action, and above all, connection.
