Are you a university student in Geneva interested in international relations?  Is a working experience part of your course?  Are you curious to learn more about work of a diplomatic mission and how the EU Delegation represents EU interests and values at the UN and other international organisations in Geneva?

 

What we offer?

A traineeship of 5 months for students of Geneva-based universities, undertaking a compulsory traineeship as a part of their studies, within the Human Rights section of the EU Delegation to the UN in Geneva, namely from 2 September 2019 – 31 January 2020.

Main tasks :

The various tasks will include:

  • contributing to the drafting of briefings,
  • preparing draft reports on EU/OHCHR/Human Rights-related meetings, conferences and events,
  • overall analysis of Human Rights policies in various countries,
  • participation in the Human Rights Council and Universal Periodic Review meetings as well as various working groups.

Additional requirements that would be an asset:

Excellent drafting skills in English, knowledge of French would be a strong advantage; knowledge of the workings of the European Union and of the United Nations would also be advantages.  A diploma/studies in the field of/related to Human Rights would be an additional asset.

Important information

Before applying you are requested to examine the dedicated website as well as the general eligibility criteria for a compulsory traineeships (Article 9 of the Decision ADMIN(2017)28 - Unpaid compulsory traineeships for students already residing and studying in the host country).

All costs related to travel inside the country of residence, visa, insurance, accommodation and living expenses must be borne by either the trainee or the University.

Applications from non-eligible candidates will not be considered. After the evaluation of all applications, shortlisted candidates will be contacted and invited for an interview, unsuccessful candidates will be notified by email. In case the selected candidate is not able to present the required documents, his/her candidacy will be rejected.
