EU project positions

The EU funded Project „Improvement of legislation, control and awareness in food safety, animal health and welfare in Ukraine” led by the company Quality Institute, seeks expressions of interest from enthusiastic and reform-oriented Ukrainian specialists who are available to work in the project team until at least the end of December 2020, with the possibility of extension.

We are looking for Ukrainian specialists in the following fields:

Veterinary epidemiology

Animal welfare

Veterinary practice

Veterinary laboratory capacity

Food safety and veterinary risk analysis

Functional review and institutional reform

Selected candidates will provide support to the improvement of standards in all areas of Food Safety, Animal Health and Welfare in Ukraine through awareness-raising, improved procedures  and controls, and capacity building.

Tasks will include (depending on each area of expertise):  Evaluation of existing situation and activities, recommendations for improvement, training of state employees, support to the senior non-key expert missions, participation in working groups and meetings, participation in the drafting of required  supporting documents and programmes, collecting, sorting and analysis of data.

Eligibility criteria

  • Education of at least University degree level  or equivalent  in veterinary medicine, veterinary public health, medical science, biology, or other relevant  field;
  • Minimum 3 years of working experience relating to animal health and/or welfare, food safety or other relevant field;
  • Well-developed  and proven presentation and communication skills;
  • Experience of working in an international donor-funded project (not essential  but would be useful);
  • Fluency in written and spoken Ukrainian and English languages;
  • No other engagement that may negatively impact on the experts ability or availability to undertake project activities.         

Please note that existing employees in Ukrainian state institutions and those who have been so employed during the last 6 months  are not eligible to apply for these positions according to the rules of the European Commission.
