A new EU project to support community-led peacebuilding and advocacy initiatives will be launched on January 24, 2019. The project “Reweaving the Ukrainian social fabric: supporting community-led peacebuilding and advocacy” will help civil society organizations (CSOs), local, regional and national authorities and media to jointly analyze and resolve conflict situations in their communities. The project will provide grants to CSOs to implement local peacebuilding activities. It also will consult mass media on coverage of contentious social issues.

Background information:

The EU project “Reweaving the Ukrainian social fabric: supporting community-led peacebuilding and advocacy” is implemented by the independent international peace-building organization International Alert in cooperation with the international non-profit media development organization Thomson Media, a partner of Thomson Foundation Group, with the financial support of the European Union. The period of project implementation is 2019-2020. The Project budget is EUR 1,000,000,00. Target regions: Donetsk, Luhansk, Zaporozhye, Kharkiv, Dnipropetrovsk, Kherson, Odesa, Lviv regions, as well as Zakarpattia and Kyiv

International Alert has over 30 years of experience in peacebuilding in different countries. It has been working in Ukraine since 2015.
