Professional work

Thanks to the professionalism of agents from the internal security forces of Niger, an international criminal network of drug traffickers has been caught trafficking drugs originating in Morocco.

EUCAP Sahel Niger is particularly happy to congratulate the police, as it has been training the Nigerien police forces for several years, including those at the airport, in numerous subjects, including how to detect document fraud, the application of police forensics, and how to detect drugs traffickers.

Complicated investigation

Beginning in April 2018, Nigerien internal security forces carried out a complicated investigation that led to the final discovery of three tons of cannabis resin hidden in a Niamey suburb, and involved falsified passports that were found during the operation.

The drugs were disguised in several ways, either as blocks of compressed cannabis resin packed in plastic and inserted into hollow pieces of wood serving as the base of vegetable crates, or hidden on the inside of large truck tires.

According to the Nigerien police, the apparent culprit is a drug baron living in Morocco.
