The EU Anti-Corruption Initiative (EUACI), implemented by Danida, is seeking a candidate for the position of Local Government and Civil Society Expert. The programme is a total of approximately 1 million Euro and will be implemented by the programme implementing unit EUACI Office in Kiev. The programme has three components: 1) Strengthening the operational and policy-making capacities of state institutions dealing with the prevention and fight against corruption; 2) Strengthening the Parliament’s oversight of the reform implementation and its capacity to scrutinise and improve the strategic legislative framework; 3) Enhance the capacity of local government, civil society, and media to contribute to the fight against corruption. The candidate will foremost be supporting component three. The candidate will be working under the supervision of the Deputy Head of the EUACI Office but will work close with the whole team of a total of 10 people, whereof 4 are international. Furthermore, the candidate will work with local governments, civil society organisations and groups as well as media groups at national and local level. The activities under component 3 should be linked to components 1 and 2.
Component 3 will support three mutually supportive interventions and jointly contribute to combatting corruption at national as well as local level:
a) Application of AC-interventions in a selected number of local governments under the concept ‘Integrity Cities’,
b) Capacity development of civil society at local and regional level to serve as AC watchdogs
c) Support for investigative journalism to investigate and report on AC cases at local, regional as well as national level
