On 13 May 2019, the Council adopted the EU annual report on human rights and democracy in the world for 2018
The European Union and Turkmenistan held the eleventh round of their annual Human Rights Dialogue in Ashgabat on 29 March 2019. The rule of law and respect for human rights are essential elements of the EU-Turkmenistan relationship.

The Delegation of the European Union to Turkmenistan supported the event of ceremonial destruction of seized narcotics and illegal substances held near the village of Bagabat, Ak Bugdai etrap, Ahal Region of Turkmenistan on 14 December 2019.
On Saturday 6 and Sunday 7 July 2019, EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy/Vice-President of the European Commission, Ms Federica Mogherini, visited Turkmenistan and the Kyrgyz Republic.
Media representatives from Turkmenistan, together with their colleagues from Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan participated in a Press Tour of journalists from 5 Central Asian countries to Brussels on 19- 22 November 2018, one the eve of the 14th EU-Central Asia Ministerial Meeting
