The European Union launched on 26 April 2017 in Ashgabat a new project 'Support to Public Administration Capacity Building'. While the Ministry of Finance of Turkmenistan is the European Union’s main counterpart and coordinator for its development and cooperation policy in the country, the main beneficiary of this EU-funded project is the Academy of Civil Service under the President of Turkmenistan.
With its new project, the EU aims to confirm its willingness to keep on supporting, as it has been doing over the last 25 years, the Turkmenistan development and reform agenda. With the launch of this project, the EU will continue its support to human capital development and good governance in Turkmenistan, by assisting with the creation of a modern and horizontal public administrative structure, run by an educated, professional and skilled civil service.
This ambitious project is in line with the National Programme for Social and Economic development of Turkmenistan for the period 2011-2030.
Continued support from the Government of Turkmenistan and its key institutions, as well as an integrated approach involving a wide range of stakeholders in the process of the implementation of the project will be crucial for the achievement of its long-term objectives, bringing about as many tangible, concrete and everlasting results as possible.
