The EU Special Representative (EUSR) for Central Asia Ambassador Terhi Hakala met representatives of the civil society in Turkmenistan on the International Human Rights Day
As part of her official visit to Turkmenistan for participation in the international conference dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the permanent neutrality of Turkmenistan, Ambassador Terhi Hakala together with EU Ambassador to Turkmenistan Diego Ruiz Alonso met with representatives of three public associations, namely Yenme, Keyik Okara and the Centre for Support of People with Disabilities. Representatives of the public associations of Turkmenistan took part in the EU-OHCHR regional event dedicated to the International Human Rights Day on 10 December 2021.
During the introduction to the civil society organizations, Ambassador Terhi Hakal noted importance of the civil society in promotion and protection of human rights. Representatives of the public associations briefly described spheres of their work and highlighted cooperation with the European Union.
