Ambassador leads BOMCA opening ceremony on 7 December 2021
On 7 December 2021, Ashgabat took part in the regional opening ceremony of the 10th phase of the BOMCA project in Turkmenistan.
Opening the event in Ashgabat, the EU Ambassador to Turkmenistan Diego Ruiz Alonso said: "The European Union is betting on cooperation in Central Asia as a way of strengthening border security, trade facilitation and livong conditions in the region. The European Union promotes regional integration and wants to share with its partners in Central Asia the experience and lessons learned during the process of building of Europe. Since 2003 to 2020, the European Union invested more than 42 mln euros in its most important regional project in Central Asia - BOMCA. From 2021 to 2025 the European Union will invest additional 21.5 mln euros as a proof of its commitment to the development and the future integration of Central Asia."
The event brought together around 30 participants of the Turkmen Government, EU member state embassies in Turkmenistan and other partners of the project in Turkmenistan.
