The European Union and Tunisia are united in solidarity and partnership following the terrorist attacks in Tunisia’s Bardo Museum. High Representative/ Vice President Federica Mogherini declared “it is the EU’s responsibility to accompany the construction of a strong Tunisian democracy, guaranteeing security, economic development and social progress for all Tunisians. Tunisia can count on the EU.”

European Council President Donald Tusk and High Representative/Commission Vice-President Federica Mogherini, accompanied by EU Counter-Terrorism Coordinator Gilles de Kerchove, will visit Tunisia on Tuesday 31 March to express the EU’s full solidarity with the Tunisian people and to explore ways to increase EU support for Tunisia.

The joint visit is part of a regional tour by Donald Tusk to discuss regional stability, illegal migration and terrorist threats.

We will have a discussion tonight on Ukraine and Russia with the Heads of State and Government. What I can tell you now is obviously that any kind of decision will have to be taken only on the basis of the situation on the ground, as we have already said several times, and only linked to the implementation of the Minsk Agreements in full.

Cela renforce notre détermination à coopérer plus étroitement avec nos partenaires pour faire face à la menace terroriste. Ce défi commun a fait partie des discussions que j'ai eues hier  encore, à Bruxelles, avec le Ministre des affaires étrangères Taieb Baccouche.

Nous avons aujourd'hui abordé un ensemble de questions, sur les opportunités et les défis que nous partageons dans la région.
