Traineeships in Delegations



Are you a young graduate interested in international relations?  
Are you curious to learn more about work in a diplomatic mission and how an EU Delegation represents EU interests and values in Libya?


What do we offer?


Two traineeships of 6 months each, within:

- the Political, Press and Information Section of the EU Delegation to Libya;

- the Operations Section  of the EU Delegation to Libya.


The internship should start before the end of the year.


Main tasks:


  • Political, Press and Information Section

  • Monitor and contribute to the analysis of political, security, economic developments in Libya;

  • Support the preparation of and reporting on meetings held by the EU Delegation with EU Member States embassies, Libyan stakeholders, diplomatic community, civil society, etc.

  • Contribute to press and communication activities as well as events organised by the Delegation ;

  • Any other task to support the Political, Press and Information section.


  • Operations Section

  • Support the operation section in establishing a quality system: compiling a list of implementing partners, Libyan authorities, checking the matrix of projects;

  • Support the operation section in attending meetings, and taking notes;

  • Support the section with cycle management of contracts, when required;

  • Support the section in the preparation of workshops;

Before applying you are requested to examine the general eligibility criteria*

for traineeships (Article 8 of the Decision ADMIN(2017)28 - Paid traineeship for young graduates).


Main eligibility criteria:


Paid traineeship for young graduates with less than one year of professional experience:


  • citizens of the host country, nationals from the EU Member States or pre-accession States

  • young graduates with at least a Bachelor Diploma (or equivalent)

  • maximum one year of professional experience

  • no previous experience of more than six weeks in the EU Institutions

  • fluency in English required; knowledge of Arabic an asset.


Each selected trainee will receive a monthly grant to cover living expenses. However costs related to travel, insurance, accommodation and visa must be borne by the trainee.


Applications from non-eligible candidates will not be considered. After the evaluation of all applications, shortlisted candidates will be contacted and invited for an interview. Unsuccessful candidates will be notified by email. In case the selected candidate is not able to present the required documents, his/her candidacy will be rejected.
