The opening ceremony was attended by the Ambassador of the European Union to Uzbekistan, Eduards Stiprais, who in his welcoming speech noted that “Jizzakh was historically an important crossroads of the Great Silk Road connecting Samarkand with the Ferghana Valley; it was a place of merging travelers and traders.

Convenient proximity to the capital of Tashkent, wealth and the potential of natural resources make Jizzakh a rapidly developing, modern region with expanding prospects and access to European markets. We are pleased to contribute to the development of European prospects through cultural exchange by presenting 10 films by well-known directors from 12 European countries: Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Hungary, Germany, Denmark, Italy, Latvia, the Netherlands, Finland, France and Sweden. Through these films, we are proud to present you with different aspects of European film production”.

As part of the festival, thousands of spectators from cities of Uzbekistan have already joined the masterpieces of recognized masters of cinema of the Old World. Now the chance to see the festival paintings has appeared among residents and guests of Jizzakh.
