The event is organised in co-operation with the the ASEAN Secretariat, EU Mission to ASEAN, the Geo-Informatics and Space Technology Development Agency of Thailand, and DG GROW of the EU.

The workshop's aim is to promote European initiatives on Space applications to officials in ASEAN countries, and also to transmit information about opportunities for stakeholders in Asia to use Copernicus and Galileo for their own needs. Additionally, the activity will help identify opportunities for cooperation with European stakeholders (e.g. academia, government, industry).

The target participants include officers of government agencies responsible for satellite navigation applications, forest & land monitoring, marine monitoring, maritime domain awareness and emergency management. In addition, academia, representatives, companies and start-ups using space applications are welcome. The workshop is not targeting IT developers as we do not cover the technical details of accessing and processing the data in this workshop.

The workshop will focus on cooperation opportunities between the EU and ASEAN countries on the use of space applications and satellite navigation through Copernicus - the European Union's Earth Observation Programme- as part of the externalisation of the  'Space Strategy for Europe'.
