European Union-supported digital transport system launched in Tajikistan

Thanks to the support of the European Union and the German government, Tajikistan has launched a new e-Permit System and Centralized Billing Platform that simplify and digitalize the country’s transport permit process. The system marks a major step forward in making transport services faster, more transparent, and more secure.

Ministers of Transport of Tajikistan and Uzbekistan officially signed an agreement on ePermit exchange. Within the first days after launch Tajikistan transmitted its first 100 e-permits to Uzbekistan through the new system.

The new e-Permit System and Centralized Billing Platform is upgraded within Trans-Caspian Transport Corridor (TCTC) Capacity Development programme, co-funded the European Union and the German government, and implemented by GIZ. It provides transport companies with a secure and integrated environment to  

• submit batch applications

• manage permit allocation, and

• process payments efficiently and transparently.

Its centralized billing function integrates with banking and mobile payment providers and ensures real-time validation, automated reconciliation, and full financial traceability, supported by strong data security measures. 

Through the introduction of the system, the time required for obtaining permits has been significantly reduced.

Further efforts will now focus on raising awareness and expanding the use of the system in Tajikistan and the region.
