Public Association "Adult Education of Tajikistan" in cooperation with the State Institution "Adult Training Centre of Tajikistan (ATC)" begins piloting an inclusive short-term vocational education and training (VET course on specialisation "Confectioner"). The training course starts on 15 October 2019 in the new workshops of ATC with improved access and will enable persons with disabilities to undergo training and receive a diploma.
The curriculum and training materials were developed on the basis of the DACUM (Developing a CurriculUM) that is job and task analysis method. The working group developing the programme consisted of experts from the Training, Methodology, Learning and Quality Monitoring Centre of the Ministry of Labour, Migration and Employment of the Republic of Tajikistan, the Agency of Labour and Employment of the Republic of Tajikistan, ATC, Research Institute for medical and social expertise and rehabilitation of persons with disabilities of the Ministry of Health and Social Protection of the Republic of Tajikistan, and a teacher of “Confectioner” specialty at ATC.
The pilot course involving persons with disabilities will test the new inclusive curricula and training materials developed by the working group. Based on the results of the pilot project, the training materials will be assessed and finalised for further use. Three more inclusive VET courses on specialities “Beekeeper”, “Florist” and “Household Appliance Repair” will be piloted in the ATC branches in Rasht, Dushanbe and Penjikent.
This activity is implemented within the framework of the project "INCLUSION: Promotion of Social Change and Inclusive Education in Tajikistan" funded by the European Union and the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development. The project is implemented by the Country Office of DVV International in Tajikistan in partnership with local NGOs Adult Education Association of Tajikistan and the League of Disabled Women "Ishtirok".
