The European Commission adopted on 20 May 2020 a Farm to Fork Strategy for a fair, healthy and environmentally friendly food system (see Annex). This addresses the challenges and opportunities arising when making food systems sustainable and recognises the inextricable links between healthy people, healthy societies and a healthy planet. The strategy is also central to the European Commission’s agenda to achieve the United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goals.
