In 2020, we are inviting citizens and partners to join local cleanup and reforestation initiatives, sort and separate waste at home, bring recyclable materials over to our Recycle-A-Thon event, declutter their mobile phones (by deleting unnecessary documents, emails, apps, etc.), and even join a mindfulness meditation session to enhance connections to nature and increase sustainable behaviour. Every little helps and goes a long way in helping the environment!
On September 5, the EU will head to Playa Metalio for a beach cleanup with over 150 local volunteers, public servants, and parolees who are eager to give back to their communities. Moreover, on September 19, the EU is hosting a Recycle-A-Thon: a free waste drop-off centre in Santa Elena, Antiguo Cuscatlan, where citizens can bring glass, cardboard, electronics, paper, etc. for recycling. In return, each person will receive a tree and instructions to help reforestation efforts around the country. To reduce the spread of COVID-19, all physical distancing and hygiene measures will be strictly followed during these events.
A series of online workshops about waste separation at source and recycling potential of materials will be on offer prior to these events.
Our ocean starts with you.
