Sanitation and Hygiene Initiative for Towns (SHIFT) in South West Sri Lanka

Technical assistance to the National Water Supply and Drainage Board to create and develop its capacity to manage large-scale sewerage collective systems.

The SHIFT project, implemented by Agence Francaise de Development, aims to:

  1. provide sustainable access to public sanitation service to 185 000 persons;
  2. support Sri Lanka in developing capacities in the sanitation sector; and
  3. increase livelihood in three coastal towns (approximate 410 000 persons).

The European Union's contribution to the project is worth EUR 5.9 million.
