Sudanese Official and Business Delegation discuss business opportunities

A visit of Sudanese businessmen and officials to Brussels to exchange views with senior officials of European Union institutions.

A delegation of Sudanese officials and businessmen visited Brussels from 11 to 15 September 2017. The Delegation was chaired by Mr. Osama Faisal Elsayed Ali, State Minister of Investment who was accompanied by the Deputy Governor of the Central Bank and representative from the Ministry of Finance. The group had useful exchanges of views with senior officials from European Union institutions, notably the European External Action Service (EEAS), the Departments for International Cooperation and Development (DG DEVCO), Trade (DG TRADE) and Humanitarian aid and civil protection (DG ECHO) as well as the European Investment Bank (EIB).

 

Ambassador Jean-Michel Dumond, Head of Delegation of the European Union to Sudan said: "The visit is a step forward in our dialogue and relations with Sudan. It is important that the Sudanese public and private sector understand the requirements and procedures of European financial institutions and are aware of various business opportunities".

 

The European Union Ambassador recalled that there are no economic sanctions imposed on Sudan by the EU, but highlighted that it is very important for Sudan to undertake reforms at all levels in order to attract foreign investment.
