Joint statement on the Maldivian parliamentary election

We welcome the peaceful and democratic parliamentary elections that took place in the Maldives on 6 April 2019. While awaiting the completion of the full electoral process, we commend authorities, in particular the Elections Commission, for the smooth conduct of Election Day. We take note of the statement by President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih who reassured that he will work together with all to realise the government's pledges to the people. As steadfast friends of the Maldives, we look forward to supporting the country's efforts towards reform.
