Climate Diplomacy Week Drawing Contest for Children

In celebration of the upcoming Climate Diplomacy Week (23 September to 6 October), Delegation of the European Union to the Republic of Korea will be holding the Climate Diplomacy Week Drawing Contest for Children to raise awareness on climate change and to encourage children to engage in everyday efforts to protect the environment.  

 Any Korean national from age 7 to 12, or elementary school students of Korean nationality can participate in the contest. The themes may vary from climate change in the future, everyday efforts to combat climate change such as cutting down on the use of disposable plastic products or bike-riding, imagining the sustainable future, or any other themes related to combating climate change.

 All contestants will be given a participation certificate from the Delegation of the European Union to the Republic of Korea. The top winner will be awarded a prize together with the Ambassador's certificate of award.

 

Contest information:

  • Participation in the contests is free and open to all children from age 7 to 12, or elementary school students who are Korean nationals.

*Late entries will not be considered.

  • There is no fee for entry.
  • The work must be the work of the contestant's own. Contestants must own all rights to the drawings submitted.

Format·Contents of the work

  • "8절지" or (272 x 393) or A3-sized canvas
  • Watercolor, acryl paint, colored pencils, markers, etc. can be used.
  • *Each contestant is allowed to submit one entry only.
  • Themes may range from imagination on the future climate change, daily practices to combat climate change, sustainable future, and any other themes related to climate change and environmental protection.

 

How to submit

  • The contest is open for submissions from 11 September (Wed) to 30 September (Mon).
  • Applicants should submit a high-resolution scanned version of the drawing in JPEG format, minimum 2480*1800 pixels, via email to delegation-rep-of-korea-pi@eeas.europa.eu  Each submitted file should be named in the following order: "Korean name_English name_drawing".

Ex. "홍길동_HongGilDong_drawing"

  • In the application email, all submissions shall clearly indicate the name of the author, age, school, title of the drawing (and/or short description in max 2-3 sentences) and parents’ contact details (email and mobile phone) in Korean and, where possible, in English.

 

Disclaimer: The EU reserves the right to reprint, use, name, distribute and publish, with appropriate credit to the author, any entry at its discretion, including non-winning entries, without any compensation to the contestant in question. However, copyright and intellectual property for the entry will remain with the author. The EU also reserves the right to grant permission to third parties to reprint, use, name, distribute and publish the entries for non-commercial purposes in order to raise awareness about climate change (all the foregoing always with appropriate credit to the author).
