On the occasion of the 10th Our Ocean Conference which took place on 28-30 April in Busan, the Republic of Korea, the EU Delegation in Seoul teamed up with the EU Member States to appreciate the importance of ocean and its conversation conservation addressing marine plastics pollution through promotion of circular economy. #ForOurPlanet #EUBeachCleanup EU Ambassador to the RoK, Maria Castillo Fernandez, the Commission’s Director-General Charlina Vitcheva for the Maritime Affairs and Fisheries, and the Member States delegates headed by deputy ministers and ambassadors visited the Dadaepo Port in Busan on 28 April. The campaign involved the actions to engage with the local authorities and communities by cleaning up the fishing wastes and to participate in its recycling and reusing process. Mr. Heong-joon Park, Mayor of Busan Metropolitan City, welcomed the EU and Member States delegates. After the port clean-up, they visited the fishing waste recycling facility operated by a local start-up and observed how circular economy is promoted to tackle the marine plastics pollution.
