Forty-three European companies attended the EU Gateway business mission to Korea on Environment and Water Technologies during 3-7 July 2017.
During the two-day exhibition, the European companies presented to the Korean business operators a very diverse range of products covering air pollution control, waste management and recycling, wastewater treatment and freshwater supply, water solutions, biomass and biogas waste-to-energy technologies as well as solutions to increase energy efficiency
At the Networking event, the EU Ambassador to the Republic of Korea – Michael Reiterer – highlighted that this business mission could not have been organised in a better moment, given President Moon significant change in policies priority, and that the cooperation between European and Korean companies can support concretely the Republic of Korea's efforts towards safeguarding the environment, improving air quality and fighting climate change.
In his congratulatory remarks, Mr KIM Young-hoon - Director General for Climate and Future Policy Bureau, Ministry of Environment – underlined that environment enterprises are playing a crucial role in making our society sustainable by seeking technical breakthrough to environmental problems and making efficient and minimal use of resources.
Korean players in the sector shared their appreciation for the event, and provided a positive feedback on the companies and products displayed during the two exhibition days; interest that has generated more than 800 business-to-business meetings, some with concrete outcomes.
The Environment & Water Technologies business mission has been the fourth of 20 business missions that will be carried out during the period 2016-2020. Six the focus sectors with high potential for cooperation between European and Korean companies: Green Energy Technologies, Environment & Water Technologies, Healthcare & Medical Technologies, Construction & Building Technologies, Organic Food & Beverage, and Contemporary European Design for the first time in 2018.
