EU CLIMATE CHANGE JOURNALIST AWARD

IN THE REPUBLIC OF KOREA

The Delegation of the European Union to the Republic of Korea is launching The EU Climate Change Journalist Award to recognise excellence in reporting climate change and environmental issues in the Republic of Korea. The award is part of the “EU Climate Change Outreach Project in Korea”– an EU initiative designed to help raise public awareness in the Republic of Korea about the dire impact of climate change, industrialisation and globalisation on our daily lives.

The media play an important role in highlighting the environmental challenges that we are facing. We need to reach out to citizens and governments for meaningful action to fight climate change and mitigate the deterioration of our environment. Journalists can stimulate dialogue and action across borders by sharing information.

In this regard, the EU Climate Change Journalist Award aims to support Korean journalists who are raising awareness about climate change and enhancing the understanding of the EU’s effort for climate action.

The EU Delegation hopes that the Award will attract significant media interest in climate change and encourage high-quality environmental journalism in the Republic of Korea.

The Climate Change Centre in Seoul supports the EU Climate Change Journalist Award.

Eligibility

The Award is open to print and online professional journalists who are citizens or permanent residents (F-5 visa holders) of the Republic of Korea. For the purpose of the Award, professional journalists are deemed to be journalists working for officially recognised news agencies registered in the Republic of Korea.
