11/04/2021 - HR/VP Blog – The world is horrified by the bloody military coup in Myanmar, with reports of more than 80 people killed in Bago last Friday. We are pursuing a robust diplomatic initiative in close coordination with like-minded partners. However, geopolitical competition in Myanmar makes it difficult to find common ground, to halt the violence and ensure a return to democracy.

One year ago today, the European Commission and the High Representative set out plans for a targeted EU response to support partner countries' efforts in tackling the Coronavirus pandemic combining resources from the EU, its Member States and European financial institutions, as ‘Team Europe'. By 1 January 2021, Team Europe had already supported partner countries around the world with more than €26 billion, 65% of the overall response package that now stands at over €40 billion and exceeding the original €20 billion pledged.

The Circular Economy in Singapore report analyses circular economy and Green Public Procurement (GPP) policies for preventing plastic pollution in Singapore and the European Union.

03/04/2021 – HR/VP Blog - The humanitarian situation in the Ethiopian Tigray region remains very serious. This conflict threatens also to destabilise the whole Horn of Africa. I have asked Pekka Haavisto, Finnish Minister of Foreign Affairs, to travel to Ethiopia to repeat our requests to the government and assess the situation. For the EU, helping to stop the human right abuses in the Tigray region and restore peace in Ethiopia is a high priority.


03/04/2021 – Blog du HR/VP — La situation humanitaire dans la région éthiopienne du Tigré reste très préoccupante. Ce conflit menace également de déstabiliser l’ensemble de la Corne de l’Afrique. J’ai demandé à Pekka Haavisto, ministre finlandais des affaires étrangères, de se rendre en Éthiopie pour réitérer nos demandes au gouvernement et évaluer la situation. Il est hautement prioritaire pour l’UE de contribuer à mettre un terme aux violations des droits de l’homme dans la région du Tigré et à rétablir la paix en Éthiopie.


In collaboration with Singapore's Ministry of Education and EU Member States, we present the second edition of EU at Your School. The project runs from March to May 2021. Over the next two months, Ambassadors and senior diplomats will visit 27 schools touching on topics such as EU’s history, institutions and their growing role in the face of the global health crisis.

30/03/2021 – HR/VP Blog – Last week, the European Council opened what could be a new chapter in EU-Turkey relations. EU leaders are ready to engage on important avenues of cooperation including the modernisation of the Customs Union, the relaunching of high-level dialogues and people-to-people contacts, plus strengthened cooperation on migration management.

26/03/2021 – HR/VP Blog – Despite initial setbacks, the EU is working hard to accelerate the internal roll out of COVID-19 vaccines. At the same time, we are already contributing in a very significant way to the global vaccination drive via exports and the international COVAX facility.

The 28th Meeting of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) – European Union (EU) Joint Cooperation Committee (JCC) was held via video conference on Friday, 26 March 2021.
