In a more challenging global environment, the EU needs to enhance its ability to prevent confl icts and
strengthen international peace and security. With the new European Peace Facility (EPF), the EU is
taking on more responsibility as a global security provider.
The Integrated Methodological Framework (IMF) for assistance measures under the European Peace Facility (EPF) sets out guiding principles and possible concerns to be addressed when assisting partners in the military and defence areas in pursuit of the objectives of the EU Common Foreign Security Policy (CFSP) and of the EU Common Security and Defence Policy (CSDP). It specifically addresses the issue of compliance, as well as control and accompanying measures, in relation to assistance measures.
The European Peace Facility is a new off-budget fund, designed to prevent conflicts, preserve peace and strengthen international security, for the benefit of EU citizens, our partners and their populations.
On World Water Day 2021, we celebrate all of the different ways in which water benefits our lives. We resolve to value water properly and safeguard it effectively for everyone.
This year’s theme focuses on the ‘value of water’. We should not forget that access to drinking water and sanitation are basic human needs and rights, and are fundamental for human dignity. At the same time, water is a shared resource, a critical ecosystem, and its use underpins various sectors of the economy.
Water means different things to different people in different settings. This year World Water Day is about what water means to people, its true value and how we can better protect this vital resource. By sharing all the different ways water benefits our lives, we can value water properly and safeguard it effectively for everyone.
Racism continues to be an expression of hatred that must be tackled across the globe. On the International Day against Racial Discrimination, the EU stresses once again its commitment to the elimination of racism, racial discrimination, xenophobia and related intolerance. But commitments need to be always translated in acts. That’s why the EU has called for an Anti-racism Summit, to build a truly anti-racist Union.

10/03/2021 – HR/VP Blog – Recently, Executive Vice-President Valdis Dombrovskis presented a new trade strategy at the College of the European Commission. World Women’s Day is a reminder to celebrate women's achievements, increase visibility, and address inequality, 365 days a year! The past year has been difficult. The pandemic spared nobody and has been particularly challenging for women. Doctors, nurses, teachers, shop assistants – jobs often held by women – found themselves at the frontline of the pandemic while taking on more responsibilities at home. In its statement to mark World Women’s Day, the EU thanks women for their bravery, their compassion and their contribution in fighting this crisis.
