The Council welcomes the outcome of the EU-ASEAN Leaders’ Meeting in Brussels on 19 October 2018. The European Union has a genuine strategic interest in strengthening its relationship with the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN). The Council is determined to deepen relations in 2019 and underlines its support for ASEAN regional integration.

With sustainable, comprehensive and rules-based connectivity at its core, the European Union's Connectivity Strategy aims for a better connected Europe and Asia through transport links, energy, human and digital networks.

The candidacy of Ms Catherine Geslain-Lanéelle for the post of Director General of the Food and Agriculture Organisation, was submitted in Rome on Monday 17 December 2018. The next Director General will be elected by the 194 Member States of the Organisation during its 41st Conference in June 2019. Ms Geslain-Lanéelle from France was identified as the EU candidate by the Council of the European Union on 15 October 2018.

Catherine Geslain-Lanéelle para el puesto de Directora General de la Organización de las Naciones Unidas para la Agricultura y la Alimentación se presentó en Roma el lunes 17 de diciembre de 2018.
