Youth unemployment is an ongoing problem in Ethiopia. The majority of the people below 25 years old are often not able to find jobs. 31 public universities are continuing to produce workplace-ready graduates. As a result, a growing number of Ethiopians are migrating abroad often on irregular pathways. This makes them vulnerable and many of them are becoming victims of smugglers of human traffickers. Knowing the legal options can help to protect young Ethiopians from economic exploitation, physical abuse and gender-based violence by traffickers.
