Towards A Plastic-Free Ocean: What role for policy makers, civil society and business?
17/10/2017 - 10:48
The European Union Delegation to Singapore and the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands co-present the conference titled: Towards A Plastic-Free Ocean: What role for policy makers, civil society and business?
This builds on the global momentum to act on improving the ocean environment and promote the transition to a circular economy, elements highlighted at the UN Ocean Conference in New York in June, the World Ocean Summit in Bali in February as well as the Our Ocean conference hosted by the EU in Malta on 5-6 October. The goal is to find ways to mitigate plastic waste and increase awareness on the importance of environmental sustainability both in Europe and in Asia. The panel discussions will converge views on how societies can take further steps towards reducing plastic waste, including the deployment of technologies, infrastructure and financing framework that will make the circular economy a reality.
