We offer a post of Budget / Accounting Assistant. Under this job function the successful candidate will serve as technical and support staff to ensure, under the supervision of the Head of Finance, Contracts and Audit (FCA) Section based in the EU Delegation in Dakar, that the contractual and financial management of projects and programmes under the local agent's responsibility is carried out in line with the overall instructions given by the headquarters (i.e. Financial Regulations, Practical Guide, Companion and instruction notes) and the instructions of the Head of FCA Section.

We offer

We offer a post of Budget / Accounting Assistant. Under this post, the recruited person will be attributed functions depending on the needs of the Delegation. Upon recruitment, the successful candidate will occupy a specific job function as Budget / Accounting Assistant– this job function may be changed in accordance with the needs of the Delegation. Under this job function the successful candidate will serve as technical and support staff to ensure, under the supervision of the Head of Finance, Contracts and Audit (FCA) Section based in the EU Delegation in Dakar, that the contractual and financial management of projects and programmes under the local agent's responsibility is carried out in line with the overall instructions given by the headquarters (i.e. Financial Regulations, Practical Guide, Companion and instruction notes) and the instructions of the Head of FCA Section.

A multicultural working environment in a Delegation of around 25 people. Possibility of missions. 37h30min working week, in the EU Delegation offices based in Fajara. The agent will be classified in Group II, with a monthly basic salary starts at min. 40 867 GMD and max 73 682 GMD.

Selection Criteria

Minimum Requirements:

  1. Medically fit to perform the required duties;
  2. Enjoys civil rights and permits for employment under local law;
  3. Has a satisfactory knowledge of English;
  4. Education : Professional or Chartered Accountant (e.g. ACCA, CA or equivalent), auditor;
  5. Experience: minimum experience of four years in a similar position or five years of relevant experience in auditing, assessing and/or preparing financial operations;
  6. Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office including Word, Excel and Outlook;
  7. Good organization and communication skills, writing and interpersonal;
  8. IT acumen;
  9. High ethical standards;
  10. Able to work in a proactive and autonomous way in a multicultural environment;

The following will be considered an asset:

  1. Knowledge of French

The procedure

After the deadline for applications, the applications will be reviewed by a Selection Committee set up for this purpose. The Selection Committee will prepare a short-list of candidates who are considered to be the most suitable for the post on the basis of a preliminary assessment of the information provided in their application letter and the supporting documents. The short-listed candidates will be invited to an assessment phase which may include an interview if necessary – during this phase, the Selection Committee will assess the suitability of the candidates for the post.

The candidates who have not been short-listed will not be contacted individually; however, the Delegation will use the same means of publication as for this Vacancy Notice to inform the remaining candidates once the recruitment procedure has been completed and that a candidate has (or has not) been recruited.
