The European Union, through its Boosting Agriculture and Food Security (BAFS) Program, has funded the development of a technical guide aimed at advancing horticultural crop production in Sierra Leone. Produced by the Sierra Leone Agricultural Research Institute (SLARI), the guide focuses on the identification and management of common vegetable pests and diseases, providing practical strategies to improve productivity and resilience in vegetable farming.

This publication forms part of the European Union’s broader support to strengthen agricultural value chains in Sierra Leone, addressing key challenges faced by smallholder farmers, particularly in pest and disease management. The European Union underscores the critical role of agricultural research in improving livelihoods, creating economic opportunities for women and youth, and increasing agricultural exports.
