The objectives of the MoPADA project are to reduce the prevalence of gender based violence through engaging boys and girls, men and women as supporters and promoters of gender equality and to increase the capacity of national civil society organisations to participate effectively in the formulation and implementation of development policies and strategies.

The project of 500,000.00 EUR will be implemented by "Movement towards Peace and Development Agency" (MoPADA) and its partners, the "Agency for Integrated Development Sierra Leone" (AID-SL) and "Street Sports Hope" (SSH) over a period of 30 months.

It will target 10.000 men, women, girls and boys, with the aim of breaking the silence on rape, early marriage, teen pregnancy, child labour and other forms of violence and will support community justice and social protection mechanisms in order for prevention and response to sexual violence and other forms of gender based violence to be much more efficient and accessible.

Through its activities, MoPADA and its partners will also support survivors in Kailahun and Bonthe district with a comprehensive range of services including psychosocial support, health services, and economic empowerment through the establishment of an endowment fund.

The project was officialy launched on 10 December on the occasion of International Human Rights Day.
