On the occasion of the World Day for Cultural Diversity for Dialogue and Development, we pay tribute to the essential role of cultural diversity in Europe and around the world for fostering dialogue, respect, and contributing to sustainable development and growth. Europe is a continent of cultural diversity. Our societies, institutions and laws are the outcome of centuries of exchanges of ideas, values, traditions and memories.

Statement by High Representative/Vice-President Federica Mogherini on the International Day of Multilateralism and Diplomacy for Peace

The Council today adopted a set of conclusions concerning the implementation by the EU of the United Nations' 2030 Agenda on Sustainable Development, which was established in 2015 and comprises a set of 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Given the horizontal nature of the 2030 Agenda, its implementation requires a cross-policy approach by the EU and its member states. Earlier this year, the Commission published a reflection paper "Towards an ever more sustainable Union by 2030," to which the conclusions are a response.

The fundamental human rights to safe drinking water and sanitation apply to every human being and are fully recognised and backed by the EU in its diplomatic efforts and development policy.

Equality is a core value of the European Union, and a principle we will keep fighting for. Equality between women and men is no exception.

The Delegation of the European Union to Rwanda is holding a training and information session on EU procedures for local Rwanda Civil Society Organisations over two full days, 13-14th March at the Umubano Hotel in Kacyiru.

In the coming weeks, the EU Delegation to Rwanda will launch a combined call for proposals for the European Civil Society Organisations instrument (CSO) and the European Instrument for Democracy and Human Rights (EIDHR).  The purpose of this training and information session is to support local Rwandan CSOs to prepare for this call.
