13 rural business initiatives received grants under EU funded project

13 winners of grant competition under EU-funded project “Northern Lights: Women's Initiatives for Sustainable Rural Development” received funding for their business initiatives.

“Burenkin House” project (development of the farm’s production capacities and an increase of the volume of dairy products) and the “Weaving Workshop Utok” project (creation of a weaving workshop and revival of this once popular craft in the region) received the highest marks from the Competition Commission. In addition to financial support, all grantees will be provided with necessary expert support, special attention will be paid to the promotion of goods and services.

Grants competition to support rural business initiatives was announced by the “Silver Taiga” foundation in the framework of the EU's ”Northern Lights” project. Applications, including business initiatives and social projects, were accepted from April 6 to May 15 2020 from residents of the Ust-Kulomsky and Priluzsky districts of the Komi Republic. In total, 20 applications from individual entrepreneurs, farms, municipal institutions and citizens were received for consideration by the Competition Commission.
