Presentation of the European Global Navigation Satellite Systems, Galileo and EGNOS, at the Delegation of the European Union to Uzbekistan

The European Union Delegation to Uzbekistan hosted Pavlina Nikolova and Augusto Gonzalez this morning, representatives from the EU Satellite Navigation Programs Directorate of the European Commission. The purpose of the visit was to present to the Uzbek parties the programs of the EU Space Policy, namely "Galileo" and “EGNOS”, respectively the EU's global and regional satellite navigation systems. The Uzbek parties present at the meeting were representatives of the Navoi Mining and Metallurgy Combine, the Ministry of Water Resources, the Ministry of Housing and Communal Services and Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

The two satellite navigation systems represent a new opportunity in terms of providing more accurate and reliable positioning and timing information for autonomous and connected cars, railways, aviation and other sectors. Moreover, the fields of interest are expanded to monitoring and correcting satellite navigation signals for aviation, maritime and land-based users.

Mrs. Nikolova and Mr. Gonzalez were also received yesterday at the Ministry of Agriculture and the Ministry of Transport of the Republic of Uzbekistan, while today they will be at the Ministry of Innovation.
