NUR-SULTAN - Today, in the Sal-Seri gallery in Nur-Sultan, within the framework of the cultural and educational project Aisholpan, a book “The power of inspiration” about outstanding women of the European Union (EU) and Kazakhstan was presented. Later, at the same event, 28 images, symbolizing the diversity and unity of women, appeared on an art panel made in threading technique by Kazakhstani artist Balzhan Baltasheva.

During the Aisholpan project, organized with the support of the European Union in Kazakhstan, teenage girls gained new knowledge and skills in various fields, got inspiration from examples of outstanding figures and successful women of Europe and Kazakhstan, and expanded their mindset at the educational excursions to the interesting sites of the capital city. The project was coincided with October 11 - International Day of the Girls, which commemorates their achievements around the world and recognizes the rights and special challenges they face.

The presentation of the book and the panel was attended by the Ambassadors of the European Union countries in Kazakhstan, public figures, teenage girls-participants of the project, their parents, artists who created the panels and illustrated the book, as well as the entire creative team of the project.

In his welcoming speech, Ambassador of the European Union to Kazakhstan Kestutius Jankauskas noted the need to eradicate the problem of gender inequality and reminded the girls that their dreams can change the world: “Gender equality is one of the core values of the European Union.  By supporting the Aisholpan project, we want to contribute to the empowerment of girls and develop their leadership skills.  Women and girls make up half of the world's population, which is equivalent to half of the potential of humanity.  The future of our planet is in their hands.  We believe that the dreams of these girls will make the world a happier place.”

The organizer and initiator Mahabbat Esen spoke about the importance and relevance of the Aisholpan project and noted that the project united more than 130 teenage girls from all over Kazakhstan.

“Who will be the creator of the future?  On whom will it depend?  Who will we pass on our traditions and history to?  There is only one answer - to girls who will run the world and make it better.  The Aisholpan project gave all participants the opportunity to plunge into the wonderful world of art, science, technology, to meet 28 characters of the book "The power of inspiration" - women who at different times changed the course of the history of Europe and the world, and their legacy continues to inspire to this day.  We firmly believe that every girl has the right to develop, fulfil her dreams and change the world for the better,” said Mahabbat Esen.

It should be noted that among the women heroes of the book "The power of inspiration" there are the first women racers, pilots, Nobel Prize winners, women ministers and diplomats, doctors, lawyers and many others.  Kazakhstan is represented by the legendary figure of Kazakh culture, kuishi, composer Dina Nurpeisova, who turns 160 this year.

Also within the framework of the event, the guests were introduced to the work of the artist Balzhan Baltasheva, who presented an art object consisting of 28 different female images, which are combined into one single composition, symbolizing the diversity of women from the Member States of the European Union and Kazakhstan.

The project "Aisholpan: The power of inspiration" is ending up during the global international campaign "16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence".  The realities of current time, when girls and women everywhere in the world often suffer from human rights violations, urge girls to defend and believe in themselves. Teenage girls have a right to security, education and health, not only during their critical development years, but also as they mature and become women. With sufficient support during adolescence, girls can fulfil their potential and change the world for better. The book "The power of inspiration" is exactly about those who fought against injustice, who were not afraid to express themselves and turned dreams into truth.
