Ambassador Tudor began his tenure as Head of the Delegation of the European Union to Qatar on the 1^st of September – date which also marks the opening of the Delegation in Doha as the 145^th diplomatic mission of the EU worldwide and the 4^th Delegation in the Gulf region. Previously, Ambassador Tudor served as Head of the EU Delegation to Kuwait and Ambassador of Romania to Qatar (more info about the Ambassador).

During the accreditation ceremony, Ambassador Tudor emphasized the importance of strengthening the EU-Qatar partnership, noting the momentum given to the bilateral relations by the opening of the Delegation and the recent high level visits (President of the European Council Charles Michel on 6-7 September 2022; the High Representative of the Union for Foreign and Security Policy / Vice-President of the European Commission Josep Borrell on 22 March 2022).

Moreover, the EU Joint Communication on a Strategic Partnership with the Gulf, adopted in May 2022 is a solid basis for further strengthening the EU-Qatar partnership, reflecting the wide potential for harnessing synergies to achieve common goals.
