The opening of our Delegation in 2022 as the fourth EU Diplomatic mission in the Gulf reflects the importance of this region for the European Union and is in line with the EU’s vision for a Strategic Partnership with the Gulf, which was announced earlier this year.

The decision to set up a Delegation in Doha was driven by the multiplication of contacts and enhancement of cooperation between the EU and the State of Qatar, as well as by the strategic objective to deepen our links with partners across the Globe. The latter element is particularly relevant in the current international context, characterized by increased insecurity and significant challenges to the rules-based international order.

Our purpose is to nurture and further enhance the multidimensional relationships between the European Union and the State of Qatar. We share the same objectives in achieving sustainable development goals, including those regarding affordable and clean energy, and peace and security. We are determined to build bridges between our citizens, our businesses and our public institutions, aimed at bringing tangible benefits to our peoples and fostering peace and stability in the region and beyond.
