Lunch dialogue "The European Union and Uruguay"

On June 25, at the Sheraton Hotel in Montevideo, a lunch dialogue was held with the participation of the Ambassador of the European Union, the Ambassador of Spain and the President of the Astur Foundation.


The lunch dialogue, titled "The European Union and Uruguay: perspectives in a turbulent global environment", was held between EU Ambassador Karl-Otto König, Spanish Ambassador José Javier Gómez-Llera and Astur Foundation President Enrique Iglesias. The dialogue was moderated by journalist and professor Daniel Bianchi.

The event, which was organized by the Spanish Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Navigation, was very well-attended by national and local authorities, politicians, diplomats, businessmen and representatives of the different areas of Uruguayan civil society, as well as the media.

The dialogue was opened by Spanish Ambassador Gómez-Llera. Next, EU Ambassador König spoke in more detail about the relations between the EU and Uruguay and on how the EU is facing the global crisis of multilateralism.

The dialogue was closed by Iglesias, a former Uruguayan Foreign Minister and IADB President, who talked about how this crisis can affect the EU and Uruguay.

In the end, the three speakers answered several questions from the audience.
