Following the IDAI and Kenneth cyclones, the EU supported the Mozambican authorities, together with other institutional partners (World Bank, the UN and the African Development Bank), in the development of a Post Disaster Needs Assessment (PDNA). The PDNA provides a coordinated and credible basis for recovery and reconstruction initiatives following the cyclones. It will be used for recovery and reconstruction planning, for developing financing plans providing links to longer-term sustainable and inclusive development. It serves as a platform for national and international actors to assist the authorities and populations affected by the recent disasters. The report covers damages, losses and the identification of IDAI recovery needs in the Sofala, Manica, Zambezia and Tete provinces and includes annexes with specific needs for the city of Beira as well as information on the Inhambane province and on the cyclone Kenneth on Cabo Delgado and Nampula provinces. The PDNA will be the main input for the Conference which will take place in Beira on 31/05 and 01/062019 which is also financed by the EU. See the complete PDNA report and a summary below.
