What we offer?

Two traineeships of 6 months each within the Political, Press and Information Section of the EU Delegation to Peru starting in the first semester of 2020.

Description of the section

The EU Delegation in Lima represents the European Union in Peru. The Political, Press and Information section of the Delegation is one of the 4 sections of the Delegation. The section has the task to monitor, analyse and report to HQ on the Peruvian politics (domestic and foreign) and on sectoral policy issues. The section is also in charge of establishing and maintaining regular contacts with relevant national authorities, Member States representatives, and other relevant organisations/institutions including civil society representatives. The section must also deal with the visibility and communication aspects of EU presence in Peru i.e. implement public diplomacy initiatives aimed at broadening and deepening knowledge about the EU in Peru. The section is a dynamic team of 5 persons.

Traineeship in the Press and Information Sector :

Main tasks:

• Manage social media platforms (calendar and planning, design of post, research of contents, adds); Digital media reporting
• Develop specific contact databases;
• Set up filing system for photos & videos;
• Assist in the organisation of EU events (Europe Day, Film Festival, or any event patronised by the EU);

Qualifications or special requirements:

• Good knowledge or specialisation in Latin America, knowledge of Peruvian politics is an asset;
• Excellent communication skills in both English and Spanish;
• Very good analytical and drafting skills;
• Master´s in Communications, Journalism, Digital Marketing or Public Relations, or related fields;
• Experience in managing social media accounts;
• Experience in organising events is a strong asset;
• Creative drive and writing skills;
• Ability in video editing, infographics design and digital marketing will be considered an asset.

Traineeship in the Political Affairs Sector :

Main tasks:

• Follow-up and analysis of political developments in the country;
• Contribute to political reporting and background notes on specific issues;
• Draft content for key messages, speeches, fact sheets, press releases, digital media reporting and others;
• Take part in seminars, meetings and events & report back;
• Assist in the organisation of EU events (Europe Day, Film Festival, etc) or patronised by the EU.

Qualifications or special requirements:

• Good knowledge or specialisation in Latin America, knowledge of Peruvian politics is an asset;
• Excellent communication skills in both English and Spanish;
• Very good analytical and drafting skills;
• Ability to handle politically sensitive issues in a responsible manner;
• Experience in organising events is a strong asset;
• Master´s degree in  Political Sciences, Law and/or International Relations, or related fields;

Candidates are allowed to apply for 1 traineeship only. However, based on your profile the Delegation could offer you a traineeship in another section.

Important information

Before applying you are requested to examine the dedicated website as well as the general eligibility criteria for a paid traineeship (Article 8 of the Decision ADMIN(2017)28 – Paid traineeship)

Each selected trainee will receive a monthly grant to cover living expenses. All costs related to travel inside the country, of residence, visa, insurance and accommodation must be borne by the trainee.

Applications from non-eligible candidates will not be considered. After the evaluation of all applications, shortlisted candidates will be contacted and invited for an interview. Unsuccessful candidates will be notified by email. In case the selected candidate is not able to present the required documents, his/her candidacy will be rejected.
