Today, the European Union lends its wholehearted support to the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women.

Message by High Representative/Vice-President Federica Mogherini on the occasion of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women

European Union (EU) has awarded grants to three Papua New Guinea based organisations to implement various projects in the areas of human rights, democracy and governance.

An official announcement of the awarding of the grants took place at Port Moresby at a grant awards ceremony on October 20, with the grants awarded to three organisations; the 'International Organization for Migration' (IOM) with co-implementing partners; 'the Department of Justice & Attorney General' (DJAG) and the 'CIMC-Family & Sexual Violence Action Committee' (FSVAC)', 'Child Fund Papua New Guinea' and the 'National Council of Women' (NCW) are made possible through the European Instrument for Democracy and Human Rights.

Around 75 participants from the Cook Islands, Fiji, Kiribati, the Federated States of Micronesia, Papua New Guinea, the Republic of Marshall Islands, Samoa, the Solomon Islands, Timor Leste, Tonga, Tuvalu and Vanuatu, Wallis and Futuna, and Pitcairn, as well as from EU Delegations from across the Pacific Region, other donors and two Regional Organisations are attending a week-long (24-28 October) training course on Budget Support and the EU's "Blending" aid modality. The course is organised jointly by the Delegation of the European Union for the Pacific and the Pacific Islands Forum Secretariat (PIFS) at the Novotel Hotel, Lami.
