Media Advisory: International solidarity conference on the Venezuelan refugee and migrant crisis

The European Union is organising, together with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) and the International Organization for Migration, the International solidarity conference on the Venezuelan refugee and migrant crisis on 28-29 October in Brussels, to raise awareness and mobilise support in addressing this crisis, and to demonstrate solidarity of the international community with the affected migrants and host countries.

Journalists wishing to follow this conference are invited to register here, preferably by 25 October COB.

The event will take place in the Charlemagne building of the European Commission. It will be opened by High Representative/Vice-President Federica Mogherini, UN High Commissioner for Refugees Filippo Grandi and IOM’s Director-General António Vitorino, who will deliver remarks as of 18.15 CET on 28 October.

On 29 October at 11.15 CET, High Representative/Vice-President Federica Mogherini, IOM’s Director-General António Vitorino and UN High Commissioner for Refugees Filippo Grandi will hold a press conference at the Press Room, Berlaymont building.

The high level segment will be preceded by thematic sessions in the afternoon of 28 October from 14.00 CET. Participants will be addressed by the Commissioner for Humanitarian Aid and Crisis Management Christos Stylianides, the Commissioner for International Cooperation and Development Neven Mimica and the Joint UNHCR-IOM Special Representative for Venezuelan refugees and migrants Eduardo Stein.

EbS will ensure live coverage of all these interventions.

In addition, a live web stream of the entire event will be available online.
