most politically and economically integrated relationships and have concluded 27 association, trade or political and
cooperation agreements. Together we want to strengthen the political partnership for an effective, rules-based
multilateral order, building global consensus around important themes such as Human Rights, Climate and Sustainable

European Union, Latin America and the Caribbean: joining forces for a #CommonFuture

The Council today adopted a set of conclusions concerning the implementation by the EU of the United Nations' 2030 Agenda on Sustainable Development, which was established in 2015 and comprises a set of 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Given the horizontal nature of the 2030 Agenda, its implementation requires a cross-policy approach by the EU and its member states. Earlier this year, the Commission published a reflection paper "Towards an ever more sustainable Union by 2030," to which the conclusions are a response.

The fundamental human rights to safe drinking water and sanitation apply to every human being and are fully recognised and backed by the EU in its diplomatic efforts and development policy.


Equality is a core value of the European Union, and a principle we will keep fighting for. Equality between women and men is no exception.

The predictions made last year with regard to the growing importance of great power rivalries still rings in our ear.
