The European Union (EU) and the countries of Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC) have developed one of the

cooperation agreements. Together we want to strengthen the political partnership for an effective, rules-based
multilateral order, building global consensus around important themes such as Human Rights, Climate and Sustainable
Development.

The Council today adopted a set of conclusions concerning the implementation by the EU of the United Nations' 2030 Agenda on Sustainable Development, which was established in 2015 and comprises a set of 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Earlier this year, the Commission published a reflection paper "Towards an ever more sustainable Union by 2030," to which the conclusions are a response.

The fundamental human rights to safe drinking water and sanitation apply to every human being and are fully recognised and backed by the EU in its diplomatic efforts and development policy.
