New music track highlights reliable energy supports everyday life and future opportunity across Panama

Panama City, 15 April 2026: Thousands of Panamanians rely on electricity every day to work, learn, create, and connect. The European Union has launched a new campaign in collaboration with Panamanian music artist Nanizzie. The campaign, titled ‘I’ve Got The Power,’ celebrates the partnership between Panama and the European Union, ensuring sustainable access to electricity and accelerating Panama's energy transition. It underscores a shared commitment to accessible, reliable energy for all, showcasing how projects backed by the European Union are delivering transformative green solutions to empower Panamanian people and communities across the nation.

At the heart of the campaign is Nanizzie’s new energetic song inspired by the role energy plays in people’s lives and future. The compelling new track blends her signature reggaeton sound with Latin-pop, R&B, and Afro-dancehall influences. More than a music release, the song pulsates with the potential of clean energy to uplift lives, inspiring listeners to embrace a bright, sustainable tomorrow.

"As an artist, my music is about connecting with people and bringing positive energy," says Nanizzie. "Working on this campaign allows me to lend my voice to a cause I strongly believe in. The way we produce, and transport energy is crucial for the future of Panama. That’s why energy isn’t just about getting electricity, it’s about empowering communities and people. I am proud to share this new song, and I hope it will inspire my fellow Panamanians."

The music video features real Panamanians whose lives have been positively impacted by reliable energy. One of them is Ashley Zárate, a dedicated boxer who benefits from stable, green-powered lighting at her gym. This allows her to practice early mornings and late at night. Similarly, Temym an influential visual artist, also appears in the video. Temym’s digital artwork depends on constant access to power. Their compelling stories demonstrate how these initiatives support talent, disciple and livelihoods, truly empowering Panamanians.

The campaign is supported by the European Union’s Global Gateway investment strategy, which supports critical energy initiatives in Panama. These efforts are dedicated to accelerating Panama's energy transition and ensuring sustainable access to electricity. Key initiatives include extending national electricity grids, constructing resilient mini-grids, and implementing isolated power systems that harness renewable energy, alongside vital metro line extensions to enhance urban mobility and reduce emissions.

Beyond Panama, Global Gateway investments boost renewable energy markets, connecting countries and improving electricity systems across Central America, making energy more effective, reliable and affordable for the region. It is expected that stronger regional integration will boost economic growth in Central America, creating new opportunities for people and businesses. Ultimately, the programme supports a more sustainable, resilient, and interconnected energy future for all.

Izabela Matusz, the Ambassador of the European Union in Panama, commented,

“In Panama, the transition to clean energy, powered by the European Union, is far more than an environmental imperative. These investments fuel economic growth while also creating jobs and significantly improving living standards. They deliver tangible benefits: from extending energy access to the citizens of the communities of Ngäbe-Buglé to enhancing urban sustainable mobility. Through this campaign and Nanizzie's powerful music, we aim to inspire a deeper understanding of how this partnership delivers real benefits today while securing a resilient future for all.”
