Forum Cultural Routes in the Americas: the Panamanian experience
The International Forum Cultural Routes in the Americas: the Panamanian experience is part of the project Cultural routes, Natural crossroads. Its main goal was to create a platform for the exchange of practices and experiences between Panama, EU Member States and other countries in Latin America, on three key topics useful for the implementation and future development of the project:
- Cultural Routes: Networks, Governance, and Synergies
- Heritage Interpretation and Storytelling along a Cultural Route
- Community Engagement and Tourism Management along a Cultural Route
Over three days of sessions, discussions and field visits, the event provided practical tools and methodologies to help define the next steps for the development of the project and facilitated the creation of a network among experts and professionals.
The exchange of good practices and methodologies for managing cultural and natural heritage included over 90 participants from Panama (Ministry of Culture, CIHAC, Tourism Authority, Ministry of Environment, tourism sector, university professors, among others), the European Union (Spain, Portugal, Italy, Malta, United Kingdom, Ireland), and other Latin American countries (Peru, Colombia, Mexico, Chile, etc.).
