The European Union and the Palestinian Authority inaugurated a multipurpose building and public park in Daher al-Abed village in Jenin governorate. Daher al-Abed is located in Area C of the West Bank. The project amounted to €300,000 to support building the social infrastructure in the village.
EU Heads of Missions in Jerusalem and Ramallah visited yesterday the Silwan neighborhood in East Jerusalem. The diplomats met representatives of Palestinian families living under the threat of eviction.
On 13 May 2019, the Council adopted the EU annual report on human rights and democracy in the world for 2018.
The report noted that in 2018 the EU remained at the forefront of the protection and promotion of human rights in a rapidly changing geopolitical landscape. The EU engaged in activities across the globe in line with the objectives set out in the EU action plan on human rights and democracy (2015-2019). The Council recognised that in a volatile and unpredictable world, the Action Plan has been instrumental in taking forward the human rights agenda.

The European Union and the Palestinian Ministry of Social Development hosted yesterday a Ramadan Iftar at the SOS village in Rafah. This Iftar is the first among a series of Iftars to be organised for Palestinian families in the West Bank and Gaza.
At Rafah, over 300 children, together with workers at the SOS village, joined the Iftar. They also enjoyed a full entertainment programme of music, clowns, traditional folk tales, games, and cartoon characters that was organised following the Iftar.
The European Union and Ireland made a contribution of over €20 million to the Palestinian Authority payment of social allowances to vulnerable families in the West Bank and Gaza Strip.
The EU supports the Palestinian Authority Ministry of Social Development Cash Transfer Programme responsible for the provision of basic social protection to the most vulnerable families in the West Bank and Gaza. The social allowances are paid on a quarterly basis to some 108,000 vulnerable families.
The European Union and the Palestinian Authority celebrated Europe Day in Ramallah over a Ramadan Iftar. The Iftar was attended by around 200 Palestinian counterparts who joined Europeans in marking unity, diversity, and respect to human rights.
