The first EU Study Week in 2018 took place on 24-26 March in Volgograd. It brought together students from Samara, Saratov, Astrakhan, Tula, Oryol, Rostov-on-Don, Kazan, Volgograd, Moscow, Voronezh as well as from such counties as Bulgaria and the Czech Republic. The participants together with Europeand and Russian experts talked about problems and challenges that the European Union is facing at the moment and dwelled upon perspectives of the EU-Russia relations.
Sven-Olov Carlsson, Deputy Head of the Delegation of the European Union to the Russian Federation, says that an EU Study Week is a bright example that the EU is interested to cooperate and forge relationships with Russia. Contacts between young Russian and European people are especially important because the future is for the youth.
But the EU Study Week is not only about lectures and discussions. It's also about games, quizzes, city tours and informal communication between participants and speakers. Many agree that one of the most fascinating points of the program of the EU Study Week in Volgograd was a role-playing game modelling a situation how to deal with migration issues.
All the topics that were touched upon in one way or another at the EU Study Weeks provoked a lively response from the participants. The experts answered numerous questions with pleasure as it is always pleasant to share knowledge and experience with an audience that is interested in this new knowledge.
