On May 19, Samarkand State University was visited by the EU Ambassador to Uzbekistan Charlotte Adriaen and a delegation of Tempus, Erasmus Mundus and Erasmus + project officials.
During the meeting with the rector of Samarkand State University, member of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis, Professor Rustam Kholmurodov, attention was paid to the system of higher education in Uzbekistan and its current issues.
It was noted that since the beginning of the Erasmus + project, Samarkand State University has been involved in various areas.
Charlotte Adriaen, EU Ambassador to Uzbekistan:
- First of all, this is my first visit to Samarkand. The beginning of our visit at Samarkand State University, which has a deep history, has a special symbolic meaning. We support the ongoing reforms in the education system of Uzbekistan. At this point, I would like to say with regret that the coronavirus pandemic is affecting education, among other things.
One of the most important tasks is to maintain the level of knowledge of students. We held talks with the esteemed rector Rustam Kholmurodov on a number of important issues and exchanged views.
The first is the digitization of the university management system, the second is the green economy, and the third is the further improvement of education in the field of agriculture. These areas are currently important tasks.
The parties also discussed the need to focus bilateral cooperation on higher pedagogical education and the reform of master's degrees.
